Emergency Contacts

• Names and phone numbers of contacts you choose to add
• We only store contacts you explicitly select

Location Data

• Your location is collected only when you have an active check-in timer running
• Location is shared with your emergency contacts only if you don't check back in time
• We do not track your location continuously or sell location data

Device Information

• Device type and operating system (for app compatibility)
• Push notification tokens (to send check-in reminders)

How We Use Your Information

• Core functionality: To send check-in reminders and alert your emergency contacts when needed
• Account management: To authenticate you and manage your account
• Service improvement: To fix bugs and improve the app (using anonymized, aggregated data only)

Information Sharing

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

• With your emergency contacts: Your location and a notification are shared only when a check-in timer expires without confirmation
• Service providers: We use trusted third parties for infrastructure (cloud hosting, SMS delivery) who are bound by confidentiality agreements
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety

We never sell your personal information or location data to advertisers or data brokers.

Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption
• Location data from expired check-ins is automatically deleted after 30 days
• We use secure, reputable cloud infrastructure providers

Your Rights & Choices

• Access: You can view all your stored information in the app settings
• Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time
• Location permissions: You can revoke location access through your device settings (note: this will prevent the app from sharing your location with contacts)
• Notifications: You can manage notification preferences in your device settings

Children's Privacy

CheckBack is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
